About 40 kilometers east to Sanya, there is a small island living on the sea which has an area of 1.48 square kilometers and looks primitive as mountain, sea and forest remaining their natural conditions. That is Wuzhizhou Island. It is recorded that in the Qing Dynasty, a Taoist traveled to the island and considered it is a lucky place. Later, the local officials raised funds to build a temple on the island which is the only historic site.
The island was also a key military fort in the past, up to now, although you can still see tunnels and shooting posts, it has turned into a new tourist resort. In he morning, when the sun rises, the island looks like a big jasper on the sea. There are about 2,000 kinds of plants because it is rich in fresh water.
