中國的萬里長城被稱為“萬里長城”。事實上，它有6000多公里長。它蜿蜒地從西向東，穿過沙漠，越過高山，穿過山谷，直到最后到達大海。它是世界奇觀之一。
長城有二十多個世紀(jì)的歷史。它的第一部分是在春秋時期建造的。戰(zhàn)國時期，有更多的城墻被用來保衛(wèi)不同王國的邊界。正是在秦朝，秦國把帝夫的發(fā)福部分統(tǒng)一為一個帝國。為了把敵人趕出他的.帝國，秦始皇把所有的城墻連在一起。于是，長城誕生了。
長城的寬度足以讓五匹馬或十個人并排走。沿著墻的是瞭望塔，士兵們常常在那里守望。當(dāng)敵人到來時，在塔上點燃了火作為警告。
在古代沒有任何現(xiàn)代機器的情況下，很難建造這樣一堵墻。所有的工作都是手工完成的。成千上萬的人死了，被埋在他們建造的城墻下。長城不僅是由石頭和泥土建成的，而且是幾百萬人的血肉所組成的。
今天，長城不僅對中國人，而且對來自世界各地的人都有興趣。他們中的許多人都知道中國著名的諺語:“沒有到達長城的人不是真正的人。”

As for my favourite figure in Chinese history, it must be Wei Yuan, a great thinker in the late Qing Dynasty. He, in his book, Haiguo Tuzhi (Maps and Records of the World), introduced modern technologies and ideas to China. That opened our eyes to the world. In fact, he inspires me to major in English in college to be a bridge between China and the world.
