英語作文 篇2

Having long been living in this alley, I know almost everyone here. It is, however, the housewives that I usually see in the daytime, the rest being either out working as family providers or away in school. All these housewives are kind and considerate.

My mother, for example, takes care of my sister's daughter even though she herself is busy with housekeeping, yet if she finds it necessary to go out shopping, she need not worry because there is always someone in the neighborhood coming over of her own will to help with our household chores. When suppertime is over, these housewives also like to gather at a certain place for a friendly chat about the daily goings-on in the alley or other things. They are also security-conscious, trying to keep each other out of harm's way. I is thanks to such mutual help and precaution against harm that we in the alley have lived so happy and so undisturbed a life.

英語作文 篇4

Deep beneath my heart resides my sincere gratitude to Miss Mo, the young lady who initiated me into the language of English. To her patient instruction, vivacious lecturing as well as her expressive story telling, I owe my love for English.

Reciting texts was how I started Learning English. Quite a slow learner in language, I spent more time than the rest listening to the tapes and reading the texts. It is impossible for me not to remember the time when Miss Mo demonstrated to me the correct way of pronunciation for a thousand and one times after school. Instead of a lonely boat lost on the sea of monotonous discourses, gradually I found myself a confident captain capable of steering my own way out of the intriguing ocean of word(s) upon which the great mansion of English literacy is built.

Later, when we were able to manipulate the language a bit(more) freely, Miss Mo devised a variety of activities in which we were encouraged to participate. It is she who squeezed the limited class time for us students to sink ourselves into the fascinating world of English songs, ranging from Mother Goose, the Carpenters to the front guard BSB. We were not supposed to merely enjoy the music, but also to interpret the lyrics in our own manner and to express our feelings respectively. For the first time, I sensed the underlying principle both languages share and share alike; namely, the subtle relationship they bear with the culture.

On the third year of my Learning English, we are granted a ten minute free show before each class, which served as "a stage to exhibit our talent". Some of us gave speeches; some put on mini plays and the others still, organized debates. Miss Mo neyer interfere beforehand, rather, she took detailed notes and gave comments and advice in face-to-face conversations after class. I bet no one else but she knew exactly how much saCRIfice had been made to boost our interest and to summon our intelligence in mastering English, yet she was the last person in the world to speak a word of it.

During the past four years since Miss Mo was appointed teacher of another class when I was a senior one, I went through fire and water to struggle my way out into Fudan and the satisfying subject I am now majoring in. Passion for English faded due to all these experiences, however, the cadence of Miss Mo's enduring encouragement and the rhythm of our reciting the lessons echoes.

英語作文 篇6

  Body Language

Body language is used by people for sending messages to one another。 It is very useful because it can help you make yourself easily understood。 When you are talking with others, you are not just using words, but also using expressions and gestures。 For example, waving one's hand is to say "Good-bye。" A smile and handshake show welcome, and clapping hands means congratulations。 Nodding the head means agreement, but shaking the head means disagreement。 The gestures are accepted both by Chinese and foreigners as having the same meanings。

Different countries have different body language。 For example, men in Russia, France and Arab countries kiss each other when they meet, but men in China or Australia shake hands instead of kissing。 People in Puerto Rio like touching each other, but people from English speaking countries do not touth each other。 If you touch an English person, you should say "Sorry。' People in Arab countries like standing close to one another when they are talking, but English people must keep a distance away when they are talking。 In some Asian countries, you must not touch the head of another person。 In Arab countries, you eat using the fingers of your right land;the left hand is not used at all。 In parts of Asia you must not sit with your feet pointing at another person。

When you use a foreign language, it is very important to know the meanings of gestures and movements in the foreign country。 Following the customs will help you communicate with people and make your stay there much more pleasant and comfortable。

英語作文 篇8

Dear James, In today’s newspaper, I read about the recent events in your town and I am writing to extend my deepest condolences.

It broke my heart to see all those pictures of those whose homes have been destroyed in the tragic hurricane. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a little girl crying on the roof of her house asking for help. I am really worried about you and your family, and all your friends there. I am crossing my fingers for you now in hopes that you are all safe and sound.

I can only imagine how difficult this time must be for you, and I want to extend to you my unwavering support. Our government and many nongovernmental organizations are initiating various campaigns to urge people to donate money and necessary things to send to America. I donated all my allowance that I have been saving for years.

I feel extremely sorry for this tragedy, and I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Please pass my concern on to your parents.

  Yours sincerely,

  Meng Fei
