　　Duststorms are becoming a great concern for both the public and the government in recent years. Every spring overwhelming sands and dust sweep the northern part of China, blocking out the sky, enshrouding cities and villages, bring much inconvenience and problems to people＇s lives and work. In some regions, sandstorms have caused great loss in both people＇s lives and properties.

　　Duststorms are largely created by man himself. On the one hand, too much air pollution causes a greenhouse effect, which, in turn, leads to global wanning in climate. This results in wet places on the earth even wetter and dry places even drier. On the other hand, over grazing, poor fanning, tree cutting, strip mining all leave theland unprotected. When the wind blows, it blows away topsoil and loose soil.

　　Duststorms are another punishment nature gives to mankind. We must be alert to this ecological alarm. We should not only take effective measures to stop duststorms but also draw some lessons from it. We should not "develop" the local economy at the cost of the natural environment.

　　隨著四級考試的臨近，向來深為廣大學(xué)員所頭疼的作文問題再次浮出水面。在四級考試中，如果學(xué)生作文得零分，那么即使前面得了滿分（即85分），其總成績?nèi)詫⒁暈椴患案瘛Ｒ虼藢懞靡黄�文章對參加四級考試的學(xué)生來說可謂至關(guān)重要，不容輕視。

　　縱觀歷年來的考題，我們不難發(fā)現(xiàn)議論文占據(jù)著七成以上的比例，因此首先我們要掌握議論文的寫作要領(lǐng)。按照提綱進行構(gòu)思，務(wù)必做到寫好每段的主題句和擴展句。主題句是表達段落主題的句子，它闡明一個段落的中心思想，是段落的核心，段落中的其他各句都與它緊密相連并圍繞它展開。擴展句就是解釋或者說明段落中心思想的句子。寫擴展句時要注意條理性，比如引出三條不同的理由可以分別用：Firstofall,furthermore,thelastbutnottheleast。

　　明確段落的寫作思路之后，讓我們具體來看句子的寫作�？荚噷嵺`表明，多數(shù)考生在寫作上的主要欠缺不是系統(tǒng)的寫作理論和方法，而是最基本的單句寫作能力。有些同學(xué)因為對自身的實力缺乏自信所以考場上采取抄襲閱讀文章里的句子這種方法來湊字?jǐn)?shù)。這種做法實不足取，因為一方面容易被改卷老師發(fā)現(xiàn)而認(rèn)為該考生有偷懶的嫌疑，另一方面考生從閱讀文章里抄來的優(yōu)美句子和考生自己寫的錯誤百出的句子拼湊在一起令文章整體有不和諧之感，從而令改卷老師懷疑該考生有作弊的嫌疑。通過句子寫作這一關(guān)，可參考如下步驟：

　　1.確保句子的正確性，即準(zhǔn)確表達思想而且沒有語法錯誤。以＂Therebe＂句型為例，錯誤的句子：Therearemanypeopleliketogotothemovies.正確表達：Therearemanypeoplewholiketogotothemovies.考生最容易犯的錯誤是在therebe之后又用了一個動詞作謂語，使句子結(jié)構(gòu)出現(xiàn)嚴(yán)重錯誤。除了要小心避免語法錯誤外，我們也不能忽視作文中經(jīng)常出現(xiàn)的`嚴(yán)重漢化的英語，即中式英語，比如："Manisiron,andfoodissteel.",＂Womenarehalfsidesky.＂。如何克服漢化思維關(guān)鍵在于動筆前先思考一下類似的英文句式，并且注意諺語的翻譯不能隨心所欲，盡量找到規(guī)范的翻譯方式。

　　2.注意句式的多樣性，語言生動且富于變換才能最終打動評卷老師從而獲得高分。不能從頭到尾都是Iam…,heis…,Ilike…,這樣的簡單句。

　　1）適當(dāng)運用同位語，Environmentalpollution,aphenomenonwhichlastedanumberofyears,hasgrownmoreandmoreserious.推薦用于開頭對核心名詞做出解釋。

　　2）倒裝，Onlyinthiswaycanwesolvetheproblem.建議最好使用在文章結(jié)尾處更顯得擲地有聲。

　　3）無靈主語，即沒有生命的東西充當(dāng)主語。當(dāng)我們要講述一個經(jīng)驗性的事實或者常理時，不要過多使用“Ithinkthat”議論文中過多使用“I”容易影響文章的客觀性。使用無靈主語就可以解決這個問題Pastexperiencehastaughtusthatweshouldnotdependonothersforeverything.(Pastexperience就是無靈主語)

　　4）排比，可以增強語言表達的力度和整個文章的氣勢。例如在95年1月的考題“Canmoneybuyhappiness”中運用排比就可以收到比較理想的效果。Manypeopledieformoney,lieformoney,fightformoney,andevenselltheirsoulstotheDevilformoney.

　　以上是講述寫好句子的方法，但因為考場上時間比較緊迫，所以建議考生務(wù)必在考前背誦一些常用的理由句以防在考場上臨時思路受阻而束手無策。如Itcanenrichourknowledgeandwidenourhorizon.或者Itcanincreasethegovernmentrevenueandrelievethepressureofunemployment.等等。

　　僅僅學(xué)會寫議論文是不夠的，近兩年四級考試加大了應(yīng)用文和記敘文的考查力度，這就要求考生在熟悉議論文的基礎(chǔ)之上加強應(yīng)用文和記敘文的訓(xùn)練。應(yīng)用文主要考寫信，考生必須明確寫信的基本格式以及寫信的流程：

　　he was so addicted to tobacco that he couldnt even skip acigarette in the corridor at the interval between two classes. due to the long time consumption of cigarettes, his teeth had gone totally bad and occasionally let off unpleasant smell which really disturbed us when we were talking to him. at times, he came to recognize it and consequently found out a solution. he suggested we write down our problems and he answer them in the written form. although i knew all along that he was a careful man, his quotations of five different dictionaries on a single multiple choice problem was still beyond my wildest dream.

　　whats more, none of us could imagine how ecellent his ancient chinese literature was. what he tended to do in his class was to recite several segments of the famous ancient prose and then put them into english. however, under the pressure of college entrance eam, the students didnt seem to be so interested in his performance. therefore, he tried to stimulate the class by editions of times as prizes for answering questions. it worked on us instantly.

　　on the day of the entrance eam, he waited nervously with us out of the eamination room. he kept reminding us not to drink water in case that we would feel like going to toilet during the eam. not withstanding his constant claims that we students were far less important than his beloved daughter, we did feel his devotion to us.
