Lectures and Discussions
There is a heated debate over the role of lectures and discussions in the classroom. Some people believe that lectures can help students learn more quickly. In contrast, others hold that discussions can stimulate students to learn by themselves.
Those who hold the first opinion suggest that students attend more lectures. In their view, by giving lectures teachers help students master the knowledge they've accumulated over years of study and research. However, others think that in a discussion, the teacher usually guides the students instead of dominating them. They argue that to get involved in a discussion, students have to develop their ability to analyze problems independently.
In my opinion, I stand on the side of neither idea. First of all, either method has its disadvantages. Furthermore, each student has his or her preference. Thirdly, lectures are preferable to discussions in the teaching of science subjects, and on the contrary, discussions are preferable to lectures in studying the humanities. Therefore, we should adopt different teaching methods according to different subjects.

在我看來，我既不支持第一種觀點(diǎn)也不支持第二種。首先，任何一種方法都有其優(yōu)缺點(diǎn)。此外，每個學(xué)生都有自己的`偏好。第三，講座更適合科學(xué)類學(xué)科的教學(xué)，相反，討論學(xué)習(xí)對人文學(xué)科是更可取的。因此，我們應(yīng)該根據(jù)不同的對象采取不同的教學(xué)方法。

As food is to the body, so is learning to the mind. Our bodies grow and muscles develop with the intake of adequate nutritious food. Likewise, we should keep learning day by day to maintain our keen mental power and expand our intellectual capacity. Constant learning supplies us with inexhaustible fuel for driving us to sharpen our power of reasoning, analysis, and judgment. Learning incessantly is the surest way to keep pace with the times in the information age, and an infallible warrant of success in times of uncertainty.
Once learning stops, vegetation sets in. It is a common fallacy to regard school as the only workshop for the acquisition of knowledge. On the contrary, learning should be a never-ending process, from the cradle to the grave. With the world ever changing so fast, the cease from learning for just a few days will make a person lag behind. What's worse, the animalistic instinct dormant deep in our subconsciousness will come to life, weakening our will to pursue our noble ideal, sapping our determination to sweep away obstacles to our success and strangling our desire for the refinement of our character. Lack of learning will inevitably lead to the stagnation of the mind, or even worse, its fossilization, Therefore, to stay mentally young, we have to take learning as a lifelong career.

Cheating in exams is nothing strange now.Students cheat in various examinations.As long as there have been examination rules,there have been people intent to breaking them.Some even say that if you don't cheat,you will feel like a chump.
Exams are an important method of measuring one's achievement and test what one has learned.It should be fair.If students gets high marks through cheating,such as getting answers via text message,it's unfair to the student who take the exams through their own efforts.And at the same time,the examination loses its original meaning.What's more,cheating will make people become lazy,as it gives students an opinion that they can still get good grades without working hard.They can even have better results by cheating.
We must curb exam cheating as it has so many bad effects.First,schools should emphasize moral education and forbid students' taking cellphones or other tools which can be used for cheating into exam rooms.Second,whoever iscaught cheating in exams must be punishedseverely.Moreover,students should supervise each other during exam time.Only when all these measures go into action can the problem of cheating in exams be solved in near future.
