英語作文:活到老學(xué)到老 1
Once Chairman Mao said one is never too old to learn, his famous words inspire people to keep learning all their lives. Since we are small, we study at school, then we have to learn until we are at college, after graduate from college, we finish our education in the school. Then the new stage comes, we start to work, making money, learning knowledge seems unnecessary to us. This is totally wrong, we learn all the time, even we are out of school, we have lessons from life. Life is a big topic, we have to learn it all the time. We have to deal with trouble, learning to make friends and accept fail. All these things we will not learn at school, we have to learn by ourselves, we are students and teachers. If you think you finish learning after school, you are narrow minded.

It is widely accepted that to live and learn is a creed of many centuries. Even in contemporary society, life -long learning still carries great importance to personal happiness.
To begin with, hardly can anyone achieve genuine success in his career without learning . As competition in all lines of work grows increasingly fierce, we must defeat our rivals through learning. Furthermore, according to a latest survey conducted by an authority on the Internet, 95 percent of people interviewed answered that individual happiness and success can not exist without life-long learning. In addition, an increasing number of people come to realize the value of persistent learning. A case in point is those aged citizens having been retried from work , who seek to learning Chinese drawing, calligraphy and Peking drama, so that their life after retirement can be meaningful, full of colors.
Taking into account the analysis above, we can safely draw a conclusion that where there is leaning , there is life-long happiness.

Learning is one of the most important things in one’s life, especially for children being educated in schools of different levels. They learn languages, mathematics, history, geography and so on.They must know that they should acquire as much knowledge as possible, which can help them know better about the outside world and develop themselves for their future career.
As for grown ups, even the aged, learning is important as well.Although they have studied something for many years, and have learned a lot already, there are still some experiences and laws summed up or discovered by our predecessors for them to learn. Moreover, the world keeps changing unceasingly. There is always something new for them to learn. Thus, they must be aware that they should stick to learning throughout their lives.Constant learning can make people become more learned and experienced so that they can suit the changing world better.
In short, the proverb “It is never too old to learn.” is true of everyone.Let us start and keep learning.
英語作文:活到老學(xué)到老 4
she said, hi, handsome. my name is rose. im eighty-seven years old. can i give you a hug?
i laughed and enthusiastically responded, of course you may! and she gave me a giant squeeze.2
why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?3 i asked.
she jokingly replied, im here to meet a rich husband, get married, have a couple of children, and then retire and travel.
no seriously, i asked. i was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.
i always dreamed of having a college education and now im getting one ! she told me.
after class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake.4 we became instant friends. every day for the net three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. i was always mesmerized5 listening to this time machine6 as she shared her wisdom and eperience with me.
over the course of the school year, rose became a campus icon7 and easily made friends wherever she went. she loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students.8 she was living it up.9
at the end of the semester we invited rose to speak at our football banquet and ill never forget what she taught us. she was introduced and stepped up to the podium.10 as she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three-by-five cards11 on the floor. frustrated and a bit embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, im sorry im so jittery.12 i gave up beer for lent and this whiskey is killing me!13 ill never get my speech back in order to let me just tell you what i know. as we laughed, she cleared her throat and began:
we do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. there are only four secrets to staying young, being happy and achieving success.
you have to laugh and find humor each and every day.
youve got to have a dream. when you lose your dreams, you die. we have so many people walking around who are dead and they dont even know it!
there is a giant difference between growing older and growing up. if you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and dont do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. if i am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything i will turn eighty-eight. anybody can grow older. that doesnt take any talent or ability.14 the idea is to grow up by always finding the opportunity in change.
have no regrets. the elderly usually dont have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. the only people who fear death are those with regrets.
she concluded her speech by courageously singing the rose. she challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives.15 at years end, rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. one week after graduation rose died peacefully in her sleep. over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to16 the wonderful woman who taught by eample that its never too late to be all you can possibly be.

As food is to the body, so is learning to themind. Our bodies grow and muscles develop with theintake of adequate nutritious food. Likewise, weshould keep learning day by day to maintain ourkeen mental power and expand our intellectualcapacity.
Constant learning supplies us withinexhaustible fuel for driving us to sharpen our power of reasoning, analysis, andjudgment. Learning incessantly is the surest way to keep pace with the times in theinformation age, and reliable warrant of success in times of uncertainty.
Once learning stops, vegetation sets in. It is a common fallacy to regard school as the onlyworkshop for the acquisition of knowledge. On the contrary, learning should be a neverending process, from the cradle to the grave. With the world changing so fast, to ceaselearning for just a few days will make a person lag behind. What’ s worse, the animal instinctdormant deep in our sub-conscious will come to life, weakening our will to pursue our nobleideas, undermining our determination to sweep away obstacles to our success and stranglingour desire for the refinement of our character.
Lack of learning will inevitably lead to thestagnation of the mind, or even worse, its fossilization. Therefore, to stay mentally young, wehave to take learning as a lifelong career.
