It appears to them an exceptionally long and dreary

journey, stifling monotony firmly enfolding thirty seemingly well religiously-conscious pilgrims, who trooped to a shrine named Canterbury. It is sufficiently conspicuous that the march would have mounted to no fun at all if the proposition of the

story-telling contest had not been bred. The flock of pilgrims came in diverse walks of the society at that time, demonstrating their typical values and perceptions anchored in their various social roles. Eyes floating through these old-established pages, I was overwhelmed by the enormous contrast between what I presupposed it to be and what it really displays. To be frank,

previously I deemed that it was all about the tales of the religious figures or gods which can extinguish my gleaming passion within only one second. However, the protagonists of these tales are just ordinary enough not to evoke any sense of distance.

Before I sat down to elaborate on my own viewpoints, I consulted some reviews on the Internet, but reinforced is my once wavering faith in this old saying that there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. I will lay my emphasis on some tales grounded on which I have erected my own

interpretations, some of which are distinct from some others.

The Knight’s tale is looked upon by some critics as a shining example of Chivalry which embraces the traits of knightly virtues, honor and courtly love. Admittedly, the duel they fought to contend for their mutual lover, to some extent,

reflected the valor and determination of a knight, but the hatredtowards one another spawned by this deformed love illustrates Chivalry at an immense discount. Should fraternal love be

excluded from Chivalry? After all, they had a close brotherly bond which was so easily demolished by the sense of competition and the craving to monopolize a flower girl. Fair play is

irreproachable and typical of knights in the medieval time, but violence against brothers is far from the essential morals of Chivalry. It is an irrefutable truth universally acknowledged that love can madden anyone steeped in it, so how to strike a balance between intense love and indispensable reason also remains an issue calling for our penetrating reflection.

Chaucer’s intentions of the Clerk’s tale retain an open guess. Some argue that this tale serves a lesson to all and sundry,

particularly susceptible women, to confront adversity with

inexhaustible fortitude. I have to admit that Griselda’s virtue is such as to disarm even the most prejudiced, but her

unconditional and even ueasonable tolerance doesn’t find favor with me. From my perspective, the underlying motive of the tale is to target the gun of assault at the patriarchal society. The husband splurges the wife’s patience lavishly, but was

greeted by his wife’s compliance and compromise and ultimately ended up in a blissful life. Honestly speaking, the whole tale sounds pretty laughable to me.

Geoffrey Chaucer's spring in His Poetry

In the poetry of, the poet Geoffrey

Chaucer described a beautiful spring by using his gorgeous language. He showed to people an ideal spring which was deeply rooted in his heart. And a wonderful life in Geoffrey Chaucer’s spring, everyone live harmonious with each other and enjoy their life. There was no war in Geoffrey Chaucer’s spring, the whole life in there were filled with peaceful.

  The lion and the mouse

In this summer vacation, I read a story The lion and the mouse. The story is about a mouse and a lion. One day, a mouse runs from the face of a lion, it wakes up the lion from a dream. The lion angrily jumps up and catches this mouse. The mouse cried: "As long as you are willing to spare my life, I will repay your kindness." the lion laughed and let him go.

Later, the lion was caught by some hunters. The mouse heard the lion roaring. It bit the rope and released him.

After reading The lion and the mouse, I realize the truth: we must be calm, brave and reflective when we are in danger. When the mouse met a hundred times stronger than he, it still makes every attempt to find a chance to escape, although he is afraid.

The mouse was very brave and clever. We should learn from him. Each one has his strong point and we must have confidence in ourselves. The mouse uses its own skill to help the lion gain free. We shouldn’t be like the lion, which is arrogant and looking down on others. We should learn from each other, be brave and calm when we are in danger.

  Mice daughter

In this summer vacation, I stayed at home and read a story Mice daughter. Mouse father wanted to marry his daughter to the greatest person in the world. But he didn’t know who the greatest person in the world was. Oh! The sun! He must be the greatest person in the world. After asking the sun, he was told that the cloud was the greatest one. After asking the cloud, he was told that the wind was the greatest one. At last, to his surprise, the greatest person is himself, the mouse. He finally knew the mouse was the greatest person in the world. So the mouse father was very happy. And he would marry his daughter to the handsome mouse next door.

After reading this story, I feel the father mouse ridiculous. But after laughing, I feel this story worth thinking. Everyone has his own advantages, we are only ordinary people. We should make our efforts to achieve our goals. As a primary school student, we should trust ourselves and study hard to be a good student.

  Little Prince

In my summer holiday, I read a fairy – tale story Little Prince. It was published in 1940. The outline of the Little Prince is not very complex. “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot lands in the Sahara and he makes the acquaintance of the little prince. The little prince was from another planet and escaped from his tiny planet. He has some quarrel with a rose in his planet. So he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Followed the instruction of the geographer, this little boy descends in the Sahara, on the earth.

Unbelievable, this book moved me a lot. As a primary school student, I seldom think about the true meaning of love and life. Well, now I can say, with my short eleven-year’s life experience, it’s like the stars in the sky that lit my heart. The little prince is a good fairy-tale for our children. If you have time, I advise you to read this story. You will love this story .

  Summary

When the novel begins, Jane is an isolated, powerless ten-year-old living with an aunt and cousins who dislike her. As the novel progresses, she grows in strength. She distinguishes herself at Lowood School because of her hard work and strong intellectual abilities. As a governess at Thornfield, she learns of the pleasures and pains of love through her relationship with Edward Rochester. After being deceived by him, she goes to Marsh End, where she regains her spiritual focus and discovers her own strength when she rejects St. John River’s marriage proposal. By novel’s end she has become a powerful, independent woman, blissfully married to the man she loves, Rochester.

Jane Eyre — A Beautiful Soul

When we think of Jane Eyre, what she gave us was not a pretty face or a transcendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality.

Actually, she wasn’t pretty, and of course, the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her, even her own aunt felt disgusted with it. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease, so when Miss Ingram met Jane Eyre, she seemed quite contemptuous, for that she was obviously much more prettier than ‘the plain and ugly governess’. But as the little governess had said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of equality in Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of equality and self-respect impress us so much and let us feel the power inside her body.

In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a person’s great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as AN EVERLASTING BEAUTY. I can feel that how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but as there are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not.
