Summer Job
The summer job is a tradition among students of American universities。 Long before the end of the school year, students begin their search for jobs during vacation ( June, July, and August)。
Students send letters to businesses, talk to employers about job opportunities durlng the summer, and ask friends and relarives to be on the lookout for jobs for them。 By June the students have usually
solved the problem and begin to make preparations for leaving their books to enter the business world。
Reasons for wanting a summer job are different from student to student。 Some work to help pay their school expenses; others work to gain experience in their chosen professions; still others work just for the fun of it。
Typist, construction worker, salesman, lifeguard, and waiter these are some of the more common jobs that students try to find during the summer months。 But many young people find work that is a little more unusual。

Teachers are our second parents. They teach us what they know and hope that we will become the flowers of our motherland. The teacher is amiable and teaches us to write with a stroke. When we encounter problems that are not calm, the teacher will comfort us and teach us kindly. Although teachers sometimes lose their temper, it's because they care more about us. Sometimes we don't obey, the teacher will teach us patiently. When we dare not speak on stage, you will encourage us. Sometimes you will talk and laugh with us, and we will feel more cordial.
Teacher, although you are not our parents, you are better than our parents. I will never forget you, teacher.
During the 15 days from New Year’s Eve to Lantern Festival, Beijing was affected by smog for more than half the time, because of which people suffered a lot. On the road people drove slowly because they could not see clearly. People also suffered from many illnesses caused by smog.
The smog in Beijing has been caused by many factors, in which the increase of cars in the city area plays an important role. The cars send off a lot of poisonous gases, which in turn adds to the already serious air pollution.
In my opinion, the number of cars should be limited. We should call on the people to use more public transport. Only in this way can we expect to have more sunny days.
Sometimes the sky is full of white clouds. But sometimes clouds look black. Where does the colour come from?
Clouds are made of water or ice. But the drops of water in the clouds are not red or orange. The sun makes the colours in the clouds. Sunshine changes colour as it goes through the drops of water in the clouds.
Clouds look dark because they are so thick. Lots of drops of water make a cloud. Very little sunshine can go through. Dust also makes clouds dark. Dust from the ground is blown into the sky. and becomes part of the clouds.
The colours of the clouds tell about the wether.
It is well-known that there has been a drastic increase in world population. But it is probably les well-known that the extinction rate of wildlife species is experiencing a parallel trend.
Take the United States for instance. In 1990, U.S. population reached an unprecedented level of 250 million, which is approximately 250 times of that of 1800. On the other hand, wildlife species are disappearing from the country at an alarming rate. By 1990, about 70 wildlife species would never be seen in U.S. We are fully justified in declaring that the explosive population growth has had an adverse effect on the survival of wildlife species and will be a constant threat to the wildlife resources if no immediate actions are taken.
Nothing has ever equaled the magnitude and speed with which the human species is altering the physical and chemical world. It has been demolishing the environment we are living in.
Dear Tina,
I’m very happy to hear that you’re coming to china next week. I hope to see you soon.
As we all know, different countries have different customs. So the manners in China are very different from those in your country. Let me tell you something about customs and manners in our country.
First, we Chinese are supposed to shake hands when we meet for the first time. Then we greet each other. After that, you can talk about something relaxing. But you are not supposed to talk about someone’s salary, age and so on. Second, we use chopsticks to have meals while you use your forks at table. Also, it’s bad manners to talk too much when you’re having meals.
I hope you’ll have a wonderful time in our country.
Yours,
Su Min
