英語作文:How to Get Alone with Others 14

We all encounter obligations in life, from spending time with family and friends to being present at important functions in the lives of the people who form our community. Many times, the obligations are actually fun and fulfilling, and we want to be there. At the same time, we all sometimes experience resistance to meeting these obligations, especially when they pile up all at once and we begin to feel exhausted, longing for nothing so much as a quiet evening at home. At times like these, we may want to say no but feel too guilty at the idea of not being there. Still, our primary obligation is to take care of ourselves, and if saying no to someone else is what we have to do, then we do not need to feel bad about it.

There is a skill to balancing our obligations, and it starts with simply becoming aware of our schedule. We may notice that three invitations have arisen in one weekend, and we know that we will pay energetically if we attempt to fulfill all three. At this point, we can take the time to weigh the repercussions of not going to each event, considering how we will feel if we miss it and how our absence might affect other people. Most of the time, it will be clear which obligation we can most easily let go and which one we simply can’t miss. Sometimes we have to miss something really important to us, and that can be painful for everyone concerned. At times like this, reaching out with a phone call, a thoughtful card, or a gift lets people know that you are there in spirit and that your absence is by no means a result of you not caring.

Meeting our obligations to others is an important part of being human and not one to take lightly. At the same time, we cannot meet every obligation without neglecting our primary duty to take care of ourselves. We can navigate this quandary by being conscious of what we choose to do and not do and by finding concrete ways to extend our caring when we are not able to be there in person.

But what’s strange nowadays is that people dare not show their helping hands to those in need. I would like to elaborate my views on this issue.

英語作文:How to Get Alone with Others 20

As human beings, we communicate throughout our lives for various porpoises. But just becausewevebeen communicating for a long time does not mean that we are always successful or that we can improve our communication skills. How can we convey successful communication? Well, there are several useful tips may help you to improve your communication skills.

First of all, listen and respond thoughtfully to others. You should spend more time listening to others instead of boasting yourself. Some of us are very egocentric, which means self-focused. If you spend too much time talking about your own stuff, the people around you may think you are a tedious and annoying person. So, the best way to do is to consider our friends; thoughts and feelings. Try to be a good listener, when you express yourself, thinks about it carefully before you really say it.

Second, appropriately adapt messages to others. It is not enough to be sensitive and accurately understand others; when your send out your message, you pick up the best ways and respond to others to achieve your communication goals. But it does not mean to say something that the listener wants to hear. That would be unethical. Appropriately adapt messages to others means carefully editing and shaping your responses so that your messages can be understood by others and you can achieve your goals.

Last but not least, try to interpret nonverbal messages. As we all know, unspoken messages can express powerful ideas or emotions with greater impact than mere words. You should try to observe others facial expressions or movements and give correct responds to others. You can see the emotions or attitude from one gesture stops. Be sensitive and appropriate interpreting others.

Most people learn communication rules from experience, by observing and interacting with others. You can do that too, if you have enough patient and determinations.

英語作文:How to Get Alone with Others 21

Our perception of humanity as a whole is, to a large extent, dualistic. We paint people with a broad brush—some are like us, sharing our opinions and our attitudes, while others are different. Our commitment to values we have chosen to embrace is often so strong that we are easily convinced that our way is the right way. We may find ourselves frustrated by those who view the world from an alternate vantage point and make use of unusual strategies when coping with lifes challenges. However ardently we believe that these people would be happier and more satisfied following our lead, we should resist the temptation to try to change them. Every human being has been blessed with a unique nature that cannot be altered by outside forces. We are who we are at any one point in our lives for a reason, and no one person can say for certain what another should be like.

The reasons we try to change one another are numerous. Since we have learned over time to flourish in the richness of lives we have built, we may come to believe that we are qualified to speak on behalf of the greater source. The sum total of our knowledge will never compare to what we do not know, however, and our understanding of others’ lives will forever be limited. The potential we see in the people who are a part of our lives will never be precisely the same as our own, so we do these individuals a disservice when we make assumptions about their intentions, preferences, and goals. Our power lies in our ability to accept others for all their quirks and differences and to let go of the need to control every element of our existence. We can love people for who they are, embracing their uniqueness, or we can love them as human beings from afar.

Your ability to influence people may grow more sophisticated because others sense that you respect their right to be themselves, but you will likely spend more time gazing inward, into the one person you can change: yourself.
